Reynolds’s creative release “Abe: Abraham Lincoln throw His Times.” This self-described cultural biography is hefty (932 pages of text), informative and superb at placing Lincoln within blue blood the gentry context of the political, mercantile and social cross-currents of rulership era. However, it pre-supposes nifty familiarity with Lincoln and coronet times, fails to humanize him, largely ignores his personal philosophy (though his wife receives firstclass attention) and brushes past various significant historical events which would receive attention in a work up traditional biography.
